Personal Brand- this is a foreign concept to me but one I’ve been hearing about time after time. Since my business has grown I’ve been wanting to do a photo shoot to promote me, my business and my blog. So, I started doing research, scouring the internet, and looking at hundreds of branding photo shoots. I spent lots of time searching Pinterest for ideas because it’s my GO-TO for everything (check out my Photo Ideas for Personal Branding Board)!
I ended up with tons of ideas, examples and inspiration on what I wanted my personal branding photo shoot to look like and what I wanted it to portray. There was just one problem, I didn’t want to pose for photos! I am not confident at all and the thought of me doing an entire photo shoot to promote myself was very scary and intimidating so I just kept putting it off. It wasn’t like I didn’t have the means, my daughter is a photographer for Pete Sake! We talked about her doing the shoot and she kept telling me to let her know when I was ready. I wasn’t sure I was ever going to be ready.
There are all kinds of articles, blog posts and marketing guru’s saying that a personal branding shoot is necessary to promote your business. As Life in Pink Photography Studio shared in her blog post, 3 Reasons You need a Personal Branding Photo Shoot.

“Sell” Your Brand
I was starting to see that if I wanted to “sell” my business and blog to potential customers I had to “sell” myself first. I’ve always known that I have a unique look & style for my business. I mean look at my obsession with buffalo check and how it is in everything! But would it come across well in a branding shoot? Well I was about to find out!
NK Nowicki Photography, AKA my talented daughter, asked me to style a photo shoot for her Christmas minis and of course I jumped at the opportunity! But, this time I couldn’t say no to my personal branding shoot because well; I was going to be there all day and the set was mine and my brand! So after setting up the set and helping my daughter get some smiles it was my turn. We did them real quick here and there between her “real” appointments. And I have to admit, it wasn’t as bad as I had worked myself up to believing it would be. I did what she told me to do, and I shared some of the ideas I put together from all of my research and before I knew it, I was done.
I did it!
The photos turned out great and they absolutely showcase my personal style and brand. My mom has helped me with every single pop-up I have done so I had to make sure she was in some of the photos. My daughter even jumped in and they are just perfect.
Now that I’ve gotten one under my belt I want to schedule another one – I know RIGHT!? The first shoot was Christmas so I will do one that is more “everyday” me and showcase more of the business aspect. I don’t think I could have gotten through it if my daughter wasn’t my photographer……but I’m very lucky she is!
I am proud of the results and until the next shoot, these will be all over my social media showcasing my personal brand. I’d love to see some images of your personal style or brand – share them below!
